For the uninitiated, Pan Dulce is Mexican sweet bread. It can be kinda' crunchy and flakey with a sugar coating on top. I like it, because the bread portion is not really sweet, just the topping is sugary. It reminds me of the kichel pastry that you can get at Jewish bakeries. Same recipe...different shape.Anyway, it may be necessary to purchase a fuzzy pair of Pan Dulces for my car!!! I wonder if I could fit some crochet hooks in the Pan Dulce coin purse?

ReplyDeleteWild - the concave variety reminds me of the Hong Kong bakery stalwart "pineapple bun". For a long time as a child I kept thinking I must have received the wrong item, as there was no pineapple taste or filling. Then I found out the cracked sugar topping was supposed to look like the outside of a pineapple, no filling at all!
