Vintage Photo Friday

In the old days of exotic travel, you booked your vacation with a travel agent. These days, you can just go online, find the best deal for your flight and hotel, input your credit card number and you're finished!
I researched our upcoming trip to Honolulu on TripAdviser. It's a very cool site. When you input where you want to go, the dates, etc., TripAdviser comes up with prices for everything on OTHER search sites, such as Expedia, Priceline or Travelocity. Then, you can compare these sites for the best prices within your parameters.
For me, it was difficult keeping all of this information straight. Most of the package prices that I found for Honolulu, including air and hotel were about the same. Soooooo, I decided to go all retro and take a trip over to the Automobile Club.
The AAA has all sorts of travel packages available. I sought out an agent and she helped me find what I was looking for. I'm very excited. We leave at the end of February for a week at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel in Waikiki. The deal that AAA offered, including air and hotel was far better than anything I'd found online.
Sometimes you need outside help, even in this age of computers.

Oh that's good to know. We use tripadvisor often, especially for the reviews. But will def try AAA when booking next time.

The 4th person from the front in the picture, I think is my Auntie Margaret as a young woman. She worked in various travel agencies over the years and started out working in them as a young woman. And she always lived and worked in the Valley. Wouldn't it be a hoot if it really was her. Unfortunately, she and her sister, my Aunt Laura, have passed away. And so have their offspring, so we may never know for sure. But what a nice thought if it really is her! Best - Hester from Atlanta

WOW! Hester! That would be cool if that was your aunt in the photo. Here's where I borrowed the photo:

How did I miss this post? No wonder I was clueless about your upcoming trip to Hawaii. Yeah, it's much more reassuring to work out travel plans with a live person than a computer. Another profession felled by the Internet. Thanks for the tip!
