I came across these FABULOUS photos on the Los Angeles Public Library website. The photos were originally from the Herald-Examiner, taken at the 1955 Los Angeles Auto Show at the Pan Pacific Auditorium. The original caption for the photo above reads, "Ever want to see how the inside of a dream car looks? Here's an X-ray view of the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air V-8 sedan. Eleanor Howard and Martha Drake, Chevrolet hostesses, add beauty to the cut-away mechanical presentation of the car."

I love the cut-away versions of the 1955 Chevy. I just wish those pesky models weren't in the way so I could really see the inner workings of the car!
Mr. Larry has a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air sitting in our backyard. It runs, but is really used as a storage unit.

I drove a 55 Chevy as my daily driver for years back in the 1980s! It was so much fun... when it ran :)
ReplyDelete'55 Chevys are cool cars. You really feel protected with all that heavy metal surrounding you! My high school b.f. had one that I used to drive around town a bit! Larry's '55 runs, but it's a stick shift! Ugh! Driving a stick in that heavy car isn't that much fun, especially in the city!
