On Saturday AFTER our family reunion (phew, tired), we zoomed up to Highland Park to catch a couple of gallery openings during the NELA Artwalk. We stopped first at Future Studio, the home of our old pal, Chicken Boy. Carolyn Potter was showing her amazing crochet sculptures of nudibranchs.
You can read about nudibranchs here. Apparently they are mollusks of the sea and quite colorful! The sculptures were just beautiful and an excellent use of crochet and fiber.
It was a good show, well attended too. There were even many of the subjects of Ted's artwork present. The stories accompanying the art are fascinating.
It was a long day and we were exhausted, but we had to stop at King Taco in Glassel Park for a quick fix. This was the MOST delicious thing I've ever had!!! It's a sope de carnitas. The bottom layer is a small corncake (not a tortilla), smeared with frijoles, topped with crispy carnitas, cabbage, cilantro, salsa and queso fresco. It was totally divine! I need to go back and have another!

Ted recently had a mishap and fit right in with his own scars!

ReplyDeleteAnother great exhibit, glad you shared!
ReplyDeleteThe slugs look like they could really clean a floor. I wonder if I could attach one to my swiffer mop?
