Crochet Dude in Hollywood
At last Thursday's WeHo SnB we were honored to have Drew, The Crochet Dude as our special guest. Miss Laurie and Miss Faith brought him to our meeting at the Original Farmers Market. He's such a star. If you haven't checked out Drew's blog, website and web-store, you must do so now! He's so creative.
After a few days of sight-seeing and yarn shopping, Laurie had a little dinner party for Drew at her home. We all contributed to the meal....turkey chili, corn souffle, apple tart tatin, ginger cupcakes, brownies, chips, dips, cheese, wine, beer, soft drinks, etc. If you'd like the corn souffle recipe, click on the comments at the end of this post. It was a grand event. Laurie invited a professional videographer (James) for an interview session. Laurie is SO SOUTHERN and trusting....she even invited people who came to her yard sale last week. Glad she did! We all got to meet Christine....a lovely lady who looks like she was separated at birth from ME!
Lots of knitting, talking, laughing were involved. The photos that Mr. Larry took are slightly dark and dreamy, but it was that sort of evening. Thanks to Laurie and to all who contributed their charming personalities, etc. for this get-together!

Here's the Corn Casserole recipe for those that asked:
1 (15 oz.) can creamed corn
1 (15 oz.) can whole kernel corn
1 (8 oz.) container sour cream
2 eggs
1/2 cup butter
1 (8.5 oz.) pkg. Jiffy corn muffin mix
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13" baking dish.
Mix together corn, sour cream, eggs, melted butter. Mix in muffin mix. Pour into prepared baking dish.
Bake for 40 minutes or until a knife inserted midway into pan comes out clean.
Thanks for the Corn Casserole recipe. This is my first visit to your blog and I see you made a visit to my home town recently and saw our local celeb and all. We do have another LYS that is much bigger than the one you visited. If you ever come again - let me know and we can hook up and I'll show you some other places you didn't check out like Dewar's Ice Cream Shop. They are famous for their candy chews which are now sold in Disneyland! We have several Basque restaurants and one in particular that is rumored to be a monthly ritual for Barbra Streisand! We have a growing arts community here too. Thanks for the positive press! Marsha
Hi Marsha of Bakersfield!
We will definitely be visiting B-field again. We actually went to Dewar's. It was great! There's a branch on Hollywood Blvd. now, next to the El Capitan Theater. The El Cap is owned by Disney, so everything is connected!
Let me know your e-mail address so I can contact you the next time we visit. I'd love to find out about more yarn stores in the area. Afterall, there's a huge Basque population...lots of sheep...lots of yarn!!
Thanks for the pix of Drew and the Crew. You know, between your blog and Purl's, I'm feeling like I've already been to her patio, knitting, drinking too much vino, chattering on about nonsense, etc., etc.
Glad you had a great time. Sorry I had to miss it, but you know, duty calls...the 40 year old best friend b-day party was paramount.
