There's Nothing New Under the Sun
Knitscene Flowered Headband - 2006
I think it was the great land developer, Del Webb that said "There's Nothing New Under the Sun" except of course, Webb's latest real estate development in sunny Arizona. I'm sure others will claim authorship of this quote too.
After spending some time this weekend looking thru decades old knit and crochet patterns, I came across the new issue of Knitscene at Faith's place on Monday. It's a nice little magazine put out by Interweave Press. The cover photo was a Frida Kahlo look-alike wearing a beautiful red sweater, ethnic jewelry and a flowered headband. There is a pattern for this headband in the magazine.
Months ago, Regina found a flowered headband pattern in an old McCall's Needlework Magazine from the early 1960's. We were all enchanted with this headband that looked like it came right off Heidi of Switzerland's head. I made one.

Funny how our fashion icons change over the decades. Heidi and Frida are wearing essentially the same headband! The only change is the placement of the flowers.
There's nothing new under the sun.

That's it. I need to learn to crochet. Now. I love, love, love it! Are you writing a pattern?
PS: Did I ever show you this?

OMG! That's sooooo fabu! It's just perfect with your bangs peeking out!
Sachi just wrote exactly what I was going to say....OMG that is soooo fabu!
Absolutly without a doubt the most fantastic headband I've EVER seen!!!!
Thanks for all the compliments! I'm thinking I might make another one with more of that Frida-Latin-Look to it....flowers on top, embroidery on the sides.
Hugs!
Just enlarge the flowers and you'll have a Frida-esque headband. It'll go with your leis.
