Saturday Night in Hollywood

Larry @Tere's

After yarn crawling with the girls on Saturday in Manhattan Beach, I rested a bit, fondled my yarny purchases, then Larry I set out for dinner in Hollywood.
One of my fave little places is Tere's Mexican Grill on Melrose and Cahuenga in Hollywood. It's a tiny little mini-mall place with delicious food. The machaca is AMAZING!!! I ordered the machaca burrito, Larry ordered the chili relleno plate. Sublime.

We journeyed east to La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Soaplant and Wacko on Hollywood Blvd., just past Vermont in East Hollywood. This is a store/art gallery that is housed in a former post office, owned by art maven, Billy Shire. If you want to find an unusual book, knick-knack or a variety of other things, this is your go-to store. There's an art gallery in the back of the store. This weekend the gallery had a show called "Simply Iconic," highlighting outsider art from the American South. It was fascinating.

Wacko has more "Hello Kitty" goods than all of Little Tokyo and K-Town!

In the back patio there was a book signing by writer, Martin Olson of his "Encyclopaedia of Hell." We met up with our old friends, Debra, Brad and Matty there.

The streets were empty driving from Mid-City to East Hollywood. Everyone is out of town for Labor Day Weekend. Hey! Los Angeles is a perfect vacation destination for us on this holiday weekend. Have a wonderful Labor Day, everyone!
