Dia de los Muertos

Art Class Muertos by Tony de Carlo

Today is Dia de los Muertos or All Souls' Day. This is basically an observance to remember the dead. You can read some of the customs and history here.
My friend, artist Tony de Carlo paints a new Dia de Los Muertos painting every year. Here are a few of my favorites:

You picked some great Tony De Carlo paintings to share on your blog. One year you and Larry should go to Oaxaca for the celebration. It is really very cool and lots of fun.

I was Googling for another Dia_de_los_Muertos item when I stumbled on the thumbnail and thought "That looks like Tony's work." And I was right. I'm a fan too. One day, when I head for Savannah from here in Atlanta, I want to see it up close and personal. Hopefully with cash in hand.

Hi Max,
I'm a big Tony fan! My husband and I own quite a few of Tony's painting and paintings on wood. He's so talented!

I am prostrate with grief over the sad, sad news that Tony de Carlo passed away on Aug. 16 in Savannah. Like you I own a collection of his works. Some were never displayed in his emails that he sent out to the public.

He had one final commission from me that will now never be completed by him and will live on only in my mind as "what might have been".

Take care, Will
