Gilmore Heritage Auto Show
On Saturday, Larry and I zoomed over to the Original Farmers Market at 3rd and Fairfax to view the 19th Annual Gilmore Heritage Auto Show.
There's a restored Gilmore Gas Station right at the Market! |
You can check out a bit of history about the Gilmore Gas Co. and the Original Farmers Market here. Every year the Gilmore's bring out another restored vehicle or two from their past.
There were so many beautifully restored cars, that I just could not photograph all of them. I concentrated on some photos of the excellent chrome script this year.
During the early years of the Market's operation, farmers would just drive up to the lot and park their pickup trucks, the beds filled with produce to sell. Here's what that may have looked like:
This year's highlight auto was the Studebaker Avanti, celebrating it's 50th anniversary. There must have been at least 15 beautiful Avanti autos sitting on the street. WOW! I wanted to get into each one and drive it around the block!
This is an annual event at the Farmers Market, so mark your calendars for the first Saturday in June, 2014!
