It's the 50th anniversary of the Whiskey A Go Go on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.  Here's a bit of history of this legendary club.  I found this amazing site that lists many of the early bands that performed at the Whiskey.   Here's another great article by Alison Martino, detailing the early days of The Whiskey.

During the rock hey-day of the Whiskey when The Doors were the house band, I was too young to get into the club.  I do remember walking up to the Sunset Strip as a teen and hanging out on Sunset just to hear the bands from the sidewalk.  We often went to Pupi's Bakery on the south side of the Strip and sat at the outside tables to watch everyone walk by.  It was a real scene!

The Whiskey looks much the same today.  The reddish paint color for the exterior of the 1960s was reinstated a few years ago and the place is still rockin'!
