Female Designers
On Saturday I accompanied the photographer of "California's Designing Women" to Heath Ceramics on Beverly Boulevard, L.A. The photographer just happens to be Mr. Larry Underhill! Our friend, author and executive director of the Museum of California Design, Bill Stern organized a book signing at Heath for this fabulous catalog of women designers in California, 1896-1996. There was an exhibit of many of the works at the Autry Museum in 2012. A number of the designers were in attendance to autograph books and talk about their art.

Heath Ceramics is a perfect place to host such an event. Edith Heath founded this pottery studio in 1948 in the San Francisco Bay area. Edith is gone, but her designs live on. There is an artist in residence at both the S.F. and L.A. locations, contributing new designs to the pottery collection. I own a few pieces of this gorgeous pottery and I WANT MORE!

Naturally, I was NOT able to leave the store without purchasing SOMETHING. I bought a set of simple candle holders in the ice-blue color. I love them. I love everything at Heath.

In addition to pottery lovers and designers we ran into textile designer, Alexandra Becket and her adorable daughter, Everly.
