Christmas in February

The KnitGrrlz like to CELEBRATE. Everything. Since Mary Jo was in South America over the holidays, we had to postpone our Xmas celebration until last Sunday. We also celebrated Natalie's January b-day and Brit's February B-Day! There were so many gifties on the table, we couldn't see each other!


Natalie made a brunch reservation for us at Public Kitchen and Bar at the beautiful and historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. It was Super Bowl Sunday. No one was at this unsportsy bar. It was perfect! We had the place to ourselves. We all had drinks and then ordered brunch.


The food was really divine. For first courses, we shared burrata with pesto and cherry tomatoes, chicken liver w/apricot marmalade and bits o' bacon (but NOT bacon bits!), asparagus salad w/fried egg, blistered Shishito peppers and balik salmon tartine. Heavenly.
For our main dishes we ordered fromage blanc omelette w/ morels, scallop w/ zucchini risotto and a poached egg, prime skirt steak w/frites and crab cake benedict. The champagne was flowing. Needless to say, we were giggling and having a grand time. The waiter must have thought we were crazy!

After eating we proceeded with the b-day gifts. THEN, we opened our Xmas presents! What a bonanza! We all really know each other, so all of our gifties are just perfect.
