Day 3, Cajun Country Tour

This was a more relaxing day on our tour.  We drove to Broussard, Louisiana and toured the Victorian House which is now used as an event venue.  It's really beautiful, restored to Victorian elegance with modern upgrades and art.

Chef Patrick Mould gave us an informative cooking demonstration of Cajun cooking while Michael Doucet and Mitch Hammond played a few fiddle tunes during the demo.  We were lucky enough to receive all of the recipes prepared that day.  Lunch was simply divine in a perfect setting.

After lunch, we drove about an hour to Erath, Louisiana to meet up with the Hank Williams of Cajun Country, D.L. Menard.  We arrived at this fascinating hunting "lodge" filled with many of D.L.'s friends and family.  It's a wonderful setting in the woods, running along a bayou.  A few of us were lucky enough to pile into one of the hunter's 4-wheel drive vehicle for a tour of the hunting grounds.

D.L. Menard's band played a little concert for us as we visited with the locals and hummed along.

We're back in New Orleans tonight.  We have a few more hours to stroll around the Crescent City Thursday, then it's back to beautiful Los Angeles.  We've had a wonderful vacation.  Now, we need a vacation to rest up from our vacation!
