New Year's Day 2016
View from Pt. Fermin, San Pedro |
It has been our custom for a number of years to visit an L.A. park on New Year's Day. We've been to all of our local parks, so this year we drove a bit and visited Point Fermin Park in San Pedro. This park is the southern-most point in Los Angeles.

It was a sunny, beautiful day. We could see Catalina Island from the Park. We walked around the point and saw kids flying kites and drones!
A bit later, we went to the Korean Friendship Bell in Angels Gate Park, around the corner from Point Fermin.
Korean Friendship Bell and Pavilion |
This bell and pavilion were given to the United States during the bi-centennial year of 1976 as a gesture of friendship between the two nations. The bell is immense. It is housed in a really beautiful pavilion, painted in traditional colors. You can see the sparkling Pacific Ocean in the distance. It's a lovely setting.

This was a clear start to our new year. Happy 2016 my friends.
