Crochet

Above is a photo I took of a pattern in a crochet book published during the 1970's. It's paisley crochet motifs...Wow! Love it. This was a book that I found at Raven's Bookshop in Twentynine Palms. I didn't buy the book, but I had to take a picture of those wild paisleys. I think, by just looking at the photo, I could probably copy the paisley. Hmmm? What should I make out of the paisley? Maybe a paisley-shaped handbag. An applique for a sweater? A pilow for the couch? The possibilities are endless. Have you got any ideas? Let me know!
It's been a very busy weekend. I'm exhausted. More later in the week!

Hi Ellen,
Cool motif. How about making a whole mess of paisli (?) and linking them together with a mesh-like stitch to form a shawl?

Ellen you always find the most interesting things. Thanks for posting it, I think I could make it from the picture or at least my version.

Ellen...
Those paisley's are so cool. They seem like they would be pretty easy to recreate and the possibilities are endless with their uses!

They are very cool, but to me they look like amoebae. Must be my scientific mind. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (but really, can't you just see the little cilia wiggling along?!)

or, having consulted google and a middle school website, they look more like protozoa with flagella.

I thought they were protozoa too, MG :-)

Oh you youngin's!!! You don't recognize a cool 60's-'70's paisley pattern when you see it! Paisleys were everywhere during those years. I just love that BIOMORPHIC shape!

How about a giant paisley rug?

I know paisley, I just don't recognize them when they're solo. I'm used to seeing them in the context of upholstery or shawls, swimming around all together.

Ooo, I think I'm going to have to figure these out too. A bunch of them stitched together would make a fabulous afghan!

I have the same book! I bought it last weekend at a library used book sale for 50 cents. Did you ever make any paisleys? I made one and am half way done with another. I even blogged about it. And I pdf'ed the instructions and they're on my blog if you're interested.

Greetings!

I am looking for interesting crochet patterns - can you remember anything else about this book with the paisley crochet pattern in it? I'd love to track down a copy!

Best wishes
