Vintage Photo Friday, New Orleans

1956

Yesterday was our last day in Louisiana.  After our Cajun Country Trip we drove back to New Orleans and once again checked into the Bourbon Orleans in the French Quarter.  Larry and I made it over to the Carousel Bar in the Monteleone Hotel.  WOW!  What a great bar.  When you're sitting at the circular bar, the whole thing revolves slowly.  This could be confusing if you're consuming serious cocktails.  If you get off your bar stool and look for the restroom, it may be in the opposite direction of when you sat down!  The bar rotates one revolution every 15 minutes.

The bar was built in 1949 and renovated in 1992 when the current carousel top was added.  You can read more about the famous writers who languished at this bar here

We're back in Los Angeles now.  It was a wonderful, adventure-filled week in Louisiana!  Have a great weekend.

I watched a couple of people become veeeeerrrrry disoriented after several cocktails and a trip to the restroom! Quite amusing. Myself, I spent my time in the pursuit of staying upright on my bar stool. Successfully, I might add.
