Inglewood Rocks!
The Circle Park, Inglewood
Last night, in celebration of the 4th of July, we went to our friends' house in Inglewood for a BBQ. Thane and Carol have lived in this 1930's Spanish Revival home for about 12 years. They've done some serious kitchen remodeling and restoration. They have a lovely patio in back, perfect for outdoor dining and BBQ.

Carol told us about the incredible fireworks in the neighborhood. Inglewood is a separate city from L.A., so they do sell fireworks there. Thane and Carol live about 3 blocks from The Circle, which is this parklike circle, surrounded by similar Spanish Revival homes of the 30's.After a great dinner, the party walked the few blocks to The Circle. It was totally amazing! There were fireworks going off all over the neighborhood. Since The Circle is kind of a clearing, there were no trees or high buildings to obstruct our views of the pyrotechnics going on within a 3 mile radius. I felt like I was in a fairgrounds or battle zone! Everyone was mellow, the fireworks really were not the "safe and sane" type, but full-blown stadium like fireworks. The "show" lasted for about an hour. It was the most fantastic neighborhood display I've ever seen. We'll be back next year for more! Thanks, Carol and Thane for inviting us!
My contribution to Carol's faboo dinner was my 4th of July Lemon Flag Cake, below.
