Calendar

A Vision in Purple, Green and Gold!
The only item on the calendar for this weekend is the 20th Annual Mardi Gras Festival at the Original Farmers Market! Larry and I have both been attending this celebration for the past 20 years! It is, by far, the BEST Mardi Gras party this side of New Orleans, Louisiana. The music, food, people and decorations are the best! The true spirit of Louisiana is felt throughout the Market. Come on down! Here's the schedule.

I try to knit or crochet a new Mardi Gras hat to wear each year. Below are some of our hats from past years.

Ellen, that crocheted crown is FABulous!

Was that from a a pattern or did you freestyle it? Either way, it's very cool.

Hey there,

I may bring the kid to this, do you think a four year old would find the Mardi Gras entertaining, or is it all too old for her? Also, with the crowds, is the only parking at the Grove lot (I really hate the Grove lot).

Hi Heather,

There are usually lots of kids at the Mardi Gras. Check the link to the schedule of events to see which times during the day are kid-friendly. If you get there early, you can usually park in the North Farmers Market lot on Fairfax (where Chipotle is located). It's almost impossible to park right at the F. Mkt. unless you get there in the morning. You'll have to park at The Grove, or find street parking west of the F. Mkt. Sometimes this can be done if you drive around and hunt a bit!

Hope to see you there!
