Santa Monica Pier
The Santa Monica Pier is celebrating it's 100 anniversary this year! We went to a book signing and party on Wednesday night in celebration of this anniversary and to hear about James Harris’ book, Santa Monica Pier: A Century On The Last Great Pleasure Pier. The Carousel was all lit up. There was food, drink, slide shows and lots of people. Of course, the Carousel was working and we all took rides. The highlight of the evening for me was listening to legendary 60's folk singer/songwriter and centennial steering committee honorary co-chair, Joan Baez sing a few songs and mingle with the crowd! It seems that Joan spent some time in and around the Santa Monica Pier in the 1960's. She looks and sounds terrific! She even took a spin on the Carousel with her son, who accompanied her performance. Below are some highlights of the evening.

I love the Santa Monica pier. When I was a kid we would get homemade potato chips and go to the arcade.
The flooring and deck look great.
I love Audrey's scarf! Is there a pattern out there somewhere for it? -Michelle
Hi Michelle,
I love Audrey's scarf too! That's why I took a close-up photo of it. She got it at Anthropologie! There's an Anthropologie Group on Ravelry (www.ravelry.com), so the pattern may be there! Good luck!
The house looks fabulous!!!!!!!!!!

Oh I would love to have heard Joan Baez singing there! My Santa Monica pier memories are from 4th of July - they used to do dawn fireworks and we would spend the night on the beach and wait for them to start! Ahhh to be 19 again....
Hey, I so need a contractor for a big tile job - I am replacing the entire floor of our master bathroom. Got any suggestions?
The floor, the deck -- faboo!!! It's very exciting.
