Lunch with the Ladies
The KnitGrrlz group had a few delays and obstacles to our CHRISTMAS 2010 lunch celebration! It's all Mary Jo's fault! We could not celebrate last December because Mary Jo was traveling in Egypt. We had a date picked out for February and Mary Jo suffered a burst appendix. Sheesh! M.J.'s fine now and we FINALLY all got together this past Saturday for our celebration.
We (Mary Jo, Brit, Natalie, Darcy and I) had a lovely luncheon at Taix French Restaurant in Echo Park. Taix has been in existence (first downtown) since 1927. The current Sunset Blvd. location was opened in 1962. My grandfather used to LOVE the old Taix near Union Station. It served French food, family style at long tables....very hearty. The current location is way fancier than the boarding house style of the old restaurant. There are chandeliers, fancy curtains, booths with white tablecloths and lots of senior citizens.
Lunch was delicious...old-fashioned French-American cuisine. We had French onion soup, Croque Monsieur, Cream of Cauliflower soup, salad, wine, chocolate mousse and more! Then the gift presentation began! Whoa! What a bonanza! It's always nice receiving gifts from your bestest friends who REALLY know you! I won't go into details here, but every gift was very special. Since we're the KnitGrrlz, many gifts were handmade and fabulous!
After lunch we sauntered across the street to view the exterior of Aimee Semple McPherson's Angelus Temple and Echo Park Lake.
It was a perfect afternoon with perfect friends. We did miss our two KnitGrrlz who have moved from Los Angeles, Carla and Lori!
