Neighborhood Love
We LOVE our neighborhood. It's a sweet little pocket in the center of Los Angeles called Wilshire Vista, part of Mid-City. Everyone is friendly. We all look out for each other. We have pride in our neighborhood. Our WV sign says that we're a "Community of Respect." This is true. Probably the most unique feature of the neighborhood are the buildings, the majority of which were built between the mid-1920's through the mid-1930's. Styles range from Spanish, Spanish Mission, and Mediterranean to English Tudor and storybook European. There are some very cool buildings from the 1950's and 1960's too.
On Sunday the Wilshire Vista Welcome Mixer was held. Every year this party to meet and greet new and old neighbors gets better and better. This year the food was catered by Good Gracious Catering on Pico Blvd. Good Gracious is an excellent neighbor!

We have a fledgling Wilshire Vista Stitchers group and we set up shop at one of the tables to attract new members.

There were a few neighborhood announcements, but mostly everyone just laughed and talked in the sunshine. Welcome to the neighborhood!

That is so so nice! You are fortunate to live in an area such as that in this big sprawling city.
What a nice mixer. Looks like it was a lovely day, too.
I am soooo jealous! Can I be your neighbor? (: That is the one thing we miss about our old 'hood is this sense of community and everythng looking out for each other. Thanks for letting us share in this fun event.
