S.S. Lane Victory
Commodore Larry @ the S.S. Lane Victory, San Pedro |
On Saturday night we attended a birthday party for our pal, Chris. These parties usually have a theme. This year, the theme was 1945 Victory Party aboard the S.S. Lane Victory in San Pedro Harbor.
Most people came dressed for the occasion. There were sailors and waves, admirals, German soldiers, army men and women, visitors from the Hawaiian Islands, many civilians dressed in their 1940's garb.

Larry and I were from the future. We dressed as the Commodore and Commadorable from the Del Rey Yacht Club (which was founded in 1952). My Dad was Fleet Captain at DRYC for many years and Larry wore Dad's official blazer.

It was a beautiful evening, but a bit chilly later on. The super moon was out, shining on the sea. There was a combo playing swing music and everyone had a swell time! Thank you Chris and Charlene for another fantastic party!
