Is that a Millard Filmore mosaic? I love his mosaics on many banks around LA

When my family from Louisiana visited (about 4 years ago) they laughed at the palm tree communication! All manner of jokes about how we wave palm fronds like signal flags. Those things don't fool anyone.

LEAH - Millard Fillmore was the 13th President of the United States.

Millard Sheets was an artist and designer responsible for many of the Home Savings & Loan buildings in Southern California. This particular bank building (now Chase Bank) at Oakhurst and Wilshire was not a HS&L, but it was designed by Sheets. There is another bank (Chase) at Rexford Dr. and Wilshire that was definitely an HS&L and also designed by Sheets. LOVE those mosaics!
