Bedrock City, AZ

On the last day of our road trip we stopped near Grand Canyon, Arizona to visit Bedrock City. Yabba Dabba Doo! The Flintstones, Rubbles and all of their friends and pets are in residence at this funky amusement park. There's a diner, giftshop, mini-petting zoo and MORE in Bedrock.

From Wikipedia: At least two Flintstones-themed amusement parks exist in the United States, one in Custer, South Dakota and another in Arizona. Both have been in operation for decades. One did previously exist in Australia at Sydney's Wonderland as a Hanna Barbera theme, dominated by small children's rides, from 1985 up until the late 90's.
It was a rainy day, cloudy and very atmospheric. We were the only people in the park until a Girl Scout Troop from Lake Havasu City arrived. Those girls were all so excited to be running around Bedrock. Do they even know who the Flintstones are? Is the Hanna-Barbera cartoon show still running on TV?
I took tons of photos...here are a few...

Oh! There's so much more to see in Bedrock City. I've only scratched the surface. The park is showing it's age....very rustic, but fun. In the Bedrock outdoor Theater the staff shows Flintstones cartoons on the weekend. The park is also near an the Planes of Fame Air Musuem, campground and of course, the greatest park of them all, The Grand Canyon.
We had a nice lunch in the historic town of Williams, Arizona, then headed back to Los Angeles. We had a wonderful trip, but it's great to be home.
For L.A. calendar items this coming weekend, check out L.A. Times HotList, the L.A. Weekly, the L.A. Conservancy and the Lotta Livin' website.
I'll be at the Original Farmers Market on Saturday morning, 10 to noon for the Saturday WeHo SnB. Later in the day, 3:30-ish, you can catch me at the Fairview Knitters Group in Santa Monica!
Phew! Need to unpack and get supplies in the house!

The colors of these buildings against the blue/cloudy skies just popped off my monitor. Someone had alot of fun creating this little cartoon oasis. Felt like I went on a little vacation myself, thanks for sharing.
