Otis Art Institute Gallery
Otis Plaza
I really like the gallery at Otis. It opens onto the plaza of the campus, its spacious and easy to navigate. Otis occupies the old IBM building (1963), close to the Los Angeles Airport. The exterior of the building resembles a computer punch card!Punch-Card Concrete
Artist, Todd Schorr with Photographer, Larry Underhill
Last Saturday we attended the art opening of Todd Schorr's work at Otis Art Institute. Larry photographs Todd's paintings on occasion. Many of Todd's pieces are huge and chock full o' pop culture images. He is one of the leading artists in the Low-Brow/Pop Surrealism school of art. Some of his work is quite controversial....

While Larry and I were looking at the artwork, we ran into Myra Wood and her husband, Page. Myra and Page are graphic artists and know Todd Schorr too. Myra is also a wonderful fiber artist who I've known for awhile. We ended up talking and talking with Myra and Page, so we decided to have dinner together.
Page, Myra and LarryWe zoomed up to Playa del Rey for a nice Italian dinner at Cantalini's Salerno Beach Restaurant. It was a delightful dinner with good food and excellent conversation.

Ellen, just got to say you have a gorgeous smile!! Love your blog!
Myra's wearing a really nice wrap. You two look like sisters in fiber.
Nice shots and great work of arts! I just wonder what's the issue between Bugs Bunny and Santa Clause.. :)
