SFV Fieldtrip!
On Saturday, Larry, Suzette and I drove out to Chatsworth for the grand opening of the San Fernando Valley Relics Museum. Larry is from the Valley. He calls himself a Sherman Oakie, so this was a nostalgic field trip for him. The collection is located in an industrial part of town, in a warehouse environment.
Kevin Roderick wrote a bit about the Museum here. The collection is huge, consisting of advertising signs, photos, postcards, cars, artifacts, books and more! It was jam-packed on Saturday, probably due to the fact that L.A. Times featured a huge article with photos that very morning about the Museum's opening.
We had a good time seeing all of the memorabilia. The low rider cars outside the entrance were really fun too. For now, the Museum will only be open one day a week, but check the website for special events. This is a must-see for City of Los Angeles history fans.
