Sunday Group Knit

On Sunday I drove to Culver City (Fox Hills) to take a class at The Knitting Tree.  This shop is located in a 70's mini-mall, just south of the Westfield Culver City Mall, near Marshall's, off Bristol Parkway.  This is a fairly new shop, co-owned by Annette, former co-owner of A Mano Yarn Center in Mar Vista.
Annette and her partners have done a wonderful job of creating this nondescript store-front into a full-fledged yarn utopia and community knit and/or crochet spot.  There are high-end and low-end yarns available, lots of yarny accessories, ample seating area, great teachers and some great classes offered.  One more VERY important plus....EASY and FREE PARKING!

For several Sundays, Annette has been holding "Holiday Gift Knit-A-Long."  Each Sunday a different quick pattern is offered if you buy your yarn at the shop.  Last Sunday we made fingerless mitts.  I purchased a skein of Universal Yarn Uptown Worsted in aqua and made one mitt in the shop and the other at home that evening.  This is one of the softest and loveliest acrylic yarns I have ever worked with.  I might have to go back and purchase enough for a sweater!  The mitts turned out beautifully.  I will definitely make more for the season.

On Sundays there are free snacks!

The Knitting Tree is my new go-to yarn shop.  This was a perfect Sunday afternoon!
