Art 'n Food in Highland Park

On Saturday we attended the NELA art walk in Highland Park with our friends, Audrey and Jeff. There are many galleries that participate in this second Saturday tradition. We always visit Future Studio, Mor York and Avenue 50 Gallery. Warning...this is a photo-loaded post!
Before we started our art drive-by, we stopped for dinner at the Good Girl Dinette in Highland Park. They serve Vietnamese comfort food. Everything was delicious! We had appetizers first. Larry and Audrey ordered the Pho; Jeff had a yummy looking sandwich with garlic fries; I ordered the curried chicken pot pie.

We walked over to Future Studio (the home of Chicken Boy) to see Ruby Nishio's beautiful quilts. The amount of detail in the quilts and Ruby's exquisite sewing skills were highly evident. I enjoyed talking to Ruby about her work too.

We zoomed over to Clare Graham's Mor York Gallery. There wasn't a visiting artist's exhibition in the gallery space, but it's always exciting to view the collections and constructions that Clare has created.

Another stop was Outpost for Contemporary Art. There was an artist silk-screening t-shirts and totes for $4. I love performance art like that!

We also stopped at Avenue 50 Gallery, saw many friends and generally had a wonderful time in North East L.A.
