|Santouka's Pork Ramen|
Hi, my name is Ellen and I'm a ramen-o-holic.
Larry and I have been frequenting ramen and udon restaurants for years. With the introduction of Ramen Jinya to our neighborhood, we've become addicts. The other day, Jonathan Gold wrote about our ramen choices here in Los Angeles. Here's the article, including Gold's list of his top ten. I've been to four of the restaurants mentioned (Daikokuya, Yamadaya, Jinya and Santouka).
Larry had never been to Santouka in the Mitsuwa Marketplace on Centinela and Venice Blvd., WLA. We went to a mini-performance at the Talking Stick Coffee Lounge on Saturday night in Venice and Mitsuwa was on our way to the gig, so we stopped for dinner.
Santouka's pork belly ramen was delicious. The noodles were extra eggy and rich. The portion was smaller than at Ramen Jinya, but the richness made up for that. Mitsuwa has many other choices in their crowded food court....all are wonderful. I'm also very fond of the books, magazine and gift section at the front of the market. I always find inspiring Japanese crochet books here!
Next ramen stop may have to be on Sawtelle......if we can find a parking spot!
