Seafood Weekend
We ate out a lot over the long 4th of July weekend. I considered it a vacation of sorts. Eating out is part of going on vacation!
On the 3rd of July we decided to take a field trip to L.A.'s Chinatown. No one was there. Perfect. It was golden hour. We took lots of photos of the Mandarin-style buildings. Our Chinatown really looks like a movie set.
We wandered around a bit more and then walked over to Broadway to have dinner at Hop Woo's Seafood. They've recently added hanging beads between the booths, giving the place a very exotic look!

We ordered Lobster with Scallions and Ginger and a Chicken and Vegie dish. There's always Asian music videos on the big screens at either end of the restaurant, making for a a festive atmosphere.

We were still in a seafood state of mind by Saturday, so we met up with Audrey and Jeff at Mariscos Chente in Mar Vista for dinner.
What's on the menu at Mariscos Chente? Shrimp, shrimp and more shrimp, along with Ceviche. You will see by the photos below that each of our shrimp entrees look similar. Well, they are. Only the sauces change. The shrimp and ceviche were very fresh and delicious.

If I'd known there was Karaoke on Saturday night at Mariscos Chentes, I may have chosen a different restaurant! Oy! The music was blaring; the videos were blinding and the Karaoke singers were loud and off-key...in Spanish. Double Oy!

We adjourned to a nearby yogurt shop for a bit of quiet and a cool dessert.
All in all, it was a delightful vacation weekend.
