"Adam and Steve"
"Marriage Equality" by Tony de Carlo, acrylic on canvas |
Today, the Supreme Court of the United States delivered a historic victory for gay rights, ruling 5 to 4 that the constitution requires that same-sex couples be allowed to marry, no matter where they live and that states may no longer reserve the right only for heterosexual couples.
I am reminded of my friend, the late artist, Tony de Carlo (1959-2014) and his depiction of various "Adam and Steve" paintings throughout the years. Tony would have been very happy to see this decision today.
